Weather forecasting ala Hollywood
By Alex Carrier
Local weather forecasts said we were possibly starting a drought period. The National Weather Service Drought Monitor reported us in a moderate drought condition.
Yet, there in the green fields and Blue Ridge Mountains of Central Virginia, Hollywood was building an ark –half of one to be exact.
The life-size (assuming Hollywood knows the length of a cubit) wooden boat was part of a set for Evan Almighty, the upcoming sequel to the hit movie Bruce Almighty.
True-life or not, half not whole, the vessel was something to behold. It caught the eye of Chandler McQuoid who kindly snapped this photo for us.
The astounding part is that, no sooner was the crew ready to film the “water scene”, than the proverbial heavens opened.
We had enough rain to cause localized flooding. We had thunder and lightening and trees down and power out.
Perchance or precognition?
